I was fairly amused by this Slashdot article. It seems that SCO, purveyors of one of the most shitful Unix distributions in history, is suing IBM, claiming that IBM has swiped SCO intellectual property and given it to Linux.
If you're wondering why IBM would want to steal SCO's IP (that'd be sorta like Bushmills stealing the Soviet recipe for making hooch from cabbages and aircraft wing de-icing fluid), it's widely believed that this is a "profit-by-lawsuit" move on SCO's part (see also: Unisys and the GIF/LZW patent flap).
That could backfire, though. This is the same IBM that kept the U.S. Department of Justice in court for 13 muh-fuckin' years.
SCO has a total market capitalization of about $26 million. IBM has FIVE BILLION IN CASH.
I see this playing out like the scene in The Godfather where Sonny and Paulie smash the camera to bits, then contemptuously flip a handful of bills at the photographer.
